Our Commitment
NobleID operates as a Swiss non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining NobleID as a public good. We believe that persistent identifiers for scholarly works should be:
- Durable: Available for decades, not dependent on commercial interests
- Open: Transparent policies, open source software, and community governance
- Fair: Accessible to all institutions regardless of size or resources
Governance Structure
NobleID operates under Swiss law with a board of directors representing diverse stakeholder interests including libraries, publishers, researchers, and technology providers. All major policy decisions undergo public consultation periods.
Financial Sustainability
We maintain financial sustainability through a combination of institutional memberships, service fees for high-volume users, and grants from research funding organizations. Our annual financial reports are published for full transparency.
